Bono has a plan to send comedians to fight ISIS with comedy
The Independent — Bono was appearing in front of a US Appropriations Subcommittee hearing in Capitol Hill on Tuesday when he urged Congress to act quickly to counter the global refugee crisis and terrorism, claiming fighting violence with more violence is to “speak their language”.
“Don’t laugh,” he said. “I think comedy should be deployed. It’s like, you speak violence, you speak their language. But if you laugh at them when they’re goose-stepping down the street, then it takes away their power.
“So I am suggesting that the Senate send in Amy Schumer and Chris Rock and Sacha Baron Cohen, thank you.”
Absolutely baffling that we currently have $10 million a film movie star Jennifer Lawrence lecturing us on women’s pay equality, environmental movements launched by Leo DiCaprio while he’s using Gulfstreams and yachts like an Uber, child actor Emma Watson with a seat on the UN, and now $600 million Bono is appearing before Congress to let us know how to solve the refugee crisis.
Their solutions are hilarious. DiCaprio’s foundation produces videos you’ll never watch. Watson came up with a hashtag and meets fruity producers in 5 star hotels to rap. Lawrence’s solution seems to be to go braless and act cute and ditzy. Bono’s solution might be the most vapid yet.
Forget send Schumer, Rock and Baron Cohen in there: if laughter is really the answer, then just play them Bono’s piece above. That will give them a hearty laugh, and apparently – boom: conflict over.
